CD 1 Republicans,
Thank you for placing your support in me to lead our Party to victory as Chair of the CD 1 MNGOP. I have fought every day for our Party, implementing a strategic plan that incorporates what our most dedicated volunteers and CD 1 leaders have told me the CD 1 MNGOP needs. If you think I'm missing something, please send me an email through this website on my "Contact Aaron" tab, and I look forward to getting back to you!
CD 1 has a lot of rural, conservative areas. We know these counties will deliver solid results for our Party as long as we don't neglect them and become overconfident. Additionally, these counties have the ability to run up our margins on a congressional level which translates into helping our statewide candidates get over the finish line.
We can't allow our Party and its members to become overconfident and take these conservative areas for granted. They're the lifeblood of our Party not just in CD 1, but at the statewide level as well. To run competitive statewide races and ensure CD 1 continues being represented by Republicans, we need to run up our margins in our Republican strongholds to counteract areas where Democrats traditionally do well.
To do this, we need to energize and engage with more of our base to make sure people are becoming involved and staying active so we can turn out more Republican voters and drive up our margins in every area of CD 1. As Chair, CD 1 donated a total of $15,000 to over a dozen of our candidates to give them a little boost that aided their campaign in the critical months leading up to the election.
Very simply, we need to be knocking on more doors, making more voter contacts, and we need to be spreading our message far and wide. As Republicans, we know what we stand for and we know what we believe in, now we just need to communicate that in a way that's appealing to voters in the middle. As mentioned above, we need to be improving our GOTV efforts to turn out our Party's base, but we also need to buckle down in our targeted districts and pick up some seats to do our part in taking back the MN House.
To do this, we'll need all hands on deck in order to combat the Democrats. Republicans hold a majority of our legislative seats in CD 1, and that's a good start. However, we can always do better, and we must do better. As Chair, the CD 1 MNGOP organized door knocking days in over half of CD 1's counties, and I plan to do that again with even more stops and even more door knocking in the areas of our district that need it. As Chair, I also put over 20,000 miles on my car traveling all of CD 1's 21 counties at least twice going to over 160 GOP events for our Party.
As Chair, we've incorporated trainings, Zoom updates, and a streamlined Q&A process for our BPOUs that have equipped our BPOUS with more resources to help them get our candidates over the finish line in every county in CD 1. However, there's always room for improvement, and with a full term that's exactly what I plan to do.
We must build upon CD 1's apparatus of BPOU resources and improve both internal and external communication. We'll do this by creating one place where BPOUs can get all the information they need and more without the hassle of going through multiple people to get a simple piece of information. As Chair, I've sought to eliminate the processes that have wasted time and hindered our Party's progress in the past while elevating the processes that help us win elections. If given a full two year term, I'll continue that mission and keep delivering results.
In 2022, Republicans in CD 1 were the exception. While other areas of the state saw unexpected losses, we held our own and delivered CD 1 to every statewide Republican while increasing their margins of victory, elected a Republican congressman with the largest margin since 2004 (11.5%), and got 100% of our endorsed candidates past their primaries.
After being elected Chair in April of 2022, I had literally no time to plan for the completely unprecedented situation we found ourselves in. I had to dive head first into the role as we were a month out from a competitive special primary election. After that election, we had to jump straight into unifying our Party and keeping our operations functional.
As Chair, I was able to help lead our Party to victory through a special congressional election, a divisive primary season, and a contentious general election in less than seven months. Due to when I was elected Chair (during a redistricting year), I've had less than half of a full two year term. In that time, we've seen nearly double the Republican victories in CD 1 that we would see in a full two year term. I'm humbly asking for your support to serve for another two years as Party Chair and lead our Party to victory in the 2024 election cycle.
